General Class Information
The Let’s Go Fishing program is a volunteer-led educational program designed to introduce people of all ages to the basics of fishing. Perfect for beginners, this program teaches essential skills such as using fishing equipment, tying knots, casting, identifying fish species, understanding outdoor safety, and following fishing rules and regulations.
Led by Fishing Instructors, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to enjoy a safe and successful day on the water. The program is divided into two parts: a classroom session followed by a hands-on fishing experience.
During the classroom portion, participants will learn foundational fishing skills and prepare for their upcoming on-the-water outing. All necessary equipment—including rods, tackle, and bait—is provided. Details about the fishing location, typically a nearby pond or lake, will be shared during this session.
All registered participants are exempt from needing a fishing license while attending the program and all tackle and bait is provided.
Program Requirements:
- All participants must be registered to attend and qualify for the fishing license exemption.
- Attendance at both sessions is required.
- Open to ages 8 and up; participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the fishing location.
